Under the bus again?

For the last 30 years I have lived my life as an out lesbian. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly.
There are things I will never forget.
My first parade in 1979 was actually a march to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots (yes riots, not march or anything so nice).

Then came 1982 - this was the year when the first AIDS patients were rolled down Market St. of San Francisco in wheelchairs looking like holocaust survivors. Skeletal, scabs from the KS, many unable to walk anymore. We stood there in shock and silence as they went by.

1986 when our President finally deemed it important enough to acknowledge the horrible disease that AIDS is and the damage it has done to our country.

The 90's when the fiasco of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" was implemented. The 2000's with DOMA.

In each of those events is an instance of a politician throwing the gays under the bus of politics.
I had very high hopes this time. President Obama had made clear his beliefs and they were that DOMA and DADT were simply wrong. That he believed we deserved to be treated the same as our peers. He even issued a proclamation making June 2009 Gay Pride month http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/Presidential-Proclamation-LGBT-Pride-Month/

But now he has done the unthinkable. Thrown us under the bus of political expedience.
Here is the letter from HRC (Human Rights Campaign) to the President. http://www.americablog.com/2009/06/hrc-pens-letter-to-obama-over-hate.html
Here is the original story:

Even the AFA are surprised!

Yep it sure looks like that same old crap we have been getting for the last 30+ years.
What a disappointment. Again.
